Fiber optic lighting
is the safest illumination approach in and around
water since only light, not electricity, is "piped" to target.
In fact since only light itself is placed
into fiber cable and its source comes from remotely located
device(s) --generally very bright with specialized
highly focused optics called an "illuminator" or "light engine" --
lighting with fiber is uniquely suited to applications where presence of electricity poses a hazard of any kind.
For architectural trim, interior directional, and many general recessed/cove lighting applications, these systems,
when factoring increased fire safety and ease of lamp changes are very often unbeatable in terms of overall return
on investment and design goal effectiveness.
