High Safety Fiber

Fiber optic lighting is the safest  illumination approach in and around water since only light, not electricity,  is "piped" to target. Submersible Fiber Optic Cable Inserted in Laminar Flow

In fact since only light itself is placed into fiber cable and its source comes from remotely located device(s) --generally very bright with specialized highly focused optics called an "illuminator" or "light engine" -- lighting with fiber is uniquely suited to applications where presence of electricity poses a hazard of any kind.

For architectural trim, interior directional, and many general recessed/cove lighting applications, these systems, when factoring increased fire safety and ease of lamp changes are very often unbeatable in terms of overall return on investment and design goal effectiveness. PMMA Fiber Optic Cable

Key Advantages (Safety):

  • No Chance of Causing Fire Along Length of Fiber Optic Cable Thus Possible Lower Business Insurance Costs
  • Low UV and no heat emission from end of fibers make it ideal for illuminating environmentally sensitive items

Key Advantages (Others):

  • Fiber cables can deliver light nearly 100 feet in distance from illuminator light source,
  • A single light source (illuminator) using one lamp or high power LED can supply lighting to many targets making it inherently "Green" and energy efficient
  • Most fiber optic cable types are flexible and relatively small in diameter allowing them to meet a multitude of design requirements
  • With a variety of accessories it can provide a broad range of lighting effects

Commercial fiber optic light systems are generally comprised of multiple 150 Watt Metal Halide Fiber Optic Illuminator illuminators (typically with LED or Ceramic Metal Halide light as its light source) coupled to bundled fibers made of PMMA.

For targeted applications a appropriate lens is added at it end. For side emitting applications like NEON tube replacements or cove lighting no other components other that attachments points are needed.
